About Us:
- Unit History
Initially, Cub Scout Pack 781 was a subdivision of Pack 780, which was based out of Meadowview Elementary School. However, due to our significant growth, we established ourselves as an independent pack and have been flourishing ever since.
- What schools / grades do you serve?
Our scouting program is dedicated to serving the community of Castle Rock, Colorado, and the surrounding areas. We welcome both boys and girls who are about to embark on their kindergarten journey and provide our services to grades up to 5th grade. At the pinnacle of our scouting program, the scouts will have the opportunity to earn their coveted Arrow of Light and transition into the next level of Scouts BSA. This transition typically takes place in February of their 5th grade year, marking a significant milestone in their scouting journey. Join us and be a part of this remarkable scouting experience.
- # of members
As of recharter in 2024, Pack 781 boasts a vibrant community of 71 boys and girls, supported by a dedicated team of 10 committee members and 9 Den leaders.
- What makes our pack unique?
Our pack has the privilege of being chartered by the esteemed American Legion. We take pride in partnering with them throughout the year to engage in various activities. Our leadership is top-notch, having undergone extensive training. We firmly believe that every boy and girl deserve a quality and well-trained leader to guide them. As a highly active pack, we organize a diverse range of events every month, from exhilarating hikes to thrilling Rocket Blasts, from Pinewood Derby races to unforgettable camping trips, and even a summer camp experience. Join us, and let's create unforgettable memories together!
While wearing the complete uniform is preferred, the pack only requires the shirt, neckerchief, and belt as mandatory uniform items. Scouts are encouraged to wear their uniforms with pride, fostering a sense of ownership and belonging within the pack.
At every pack meeting, our boys and girls actively participate in various tasks to reinforce a sense of pride and ownership. Each Den has a rotating schedule of responsibilities for pack events, such as leading the flag ceremony, presenting a Den report, performing a skit or song, and helping with set up or clean up.
- What are some of our big annual events?
Our pack has several significant annual events that we eagerly anticipate each year. In January, we host the highly anticipated Pinewood Derby. The following month, we celebrate the advancement of our Arrow of Light Scouts at the Blue and Gold banquet, where they prepare to cross over into Scouts BSA. Additionally, we have our June Campout in May, and our beloved Camp-In event in December.
Furthermore, we enjoy engaging in summertime activities such as Rocket Blast, participating in the Douglas County Fair Parade, attending Day Camp and Overnight Campouts, and joining Summer Camp, among other activities.
- How are parents involved in the pack?
We encourage parents to identify the "one thing" they are skilled at and assist us in that area. For example, if they excel in event planning, they can lend a hand with organizing our Blue and Gold celebration. During each monthly committee meeting, we provide open and transparent updates to all parents regarding the "State of the Unit." As our valued stakeholders, we maintain an honest and proactive communication approach with them and never hesitate to request their assistance.
